Surviving...

I am 36 weeks, I have reached full term! Finally! Although this is good, the thought of being pregnant for 3-4 more weeks makes me want to cry. Any words of encouragement are welcome. I don't know how people make pregnancy look so easy! The aching and swollen feet, heartburn, back pain, and not being able to sleep are my biggest complaints right now. And I was definetely not prepared for the hip aching- it's like i can literally feel my hips spreading apart! But everytime I start to complain, I remember how badly I wanted this and how blessed I am to have had a healthy pregnancy with no major problems.

I have had some fun showers (wish I would've taken pictures), and family/friends have been so generous & have given me so many cute things. Now I just have to survive the last few weeks, and pray that this little boy will come early!! It's getting hard to work 12 hour shifts, but I'm going to keep working until I have the baby. It is actually hilarious trying to take care of patients at the hospital. My patients are always telling me I need to sit down and rest for awhile. My 72 year old patient actually helped me up when I got down in a squatting position to pick something off the floor and was having a hard time getting back up!
For those of you asking to see pregnancy pictures, here you go. I can't believe I am posting these terrible pictures, but whatever.

You look great Kate! You are almost there. Take a bath, that's my advice! I don't know if I told you about the guy at work that said to me "girl...you gettin' big, and your face gettin' chubby." Yeah, that was a low point. Later my dad told me that my face did get a little chubby! haha. the joys of being pregnant. It is so worth it when you are holding him and get to smell his sweet newborn scent. All worth it!

oh gosh, you are so so so SO adorable. I don't know if it's the new mommy-ness or what, but you're so cute! I love the belly pics! I'm actually very shocked you're 36 weeks already! Snuck up on me (not the same for you, I know). I the hips stretching was one of my worst complaints. You're doing a lot of work for a 36-week momma, so I guess you just have to remember the aches & pains are going to accompany that. It's a great goal though, so you're doing awesome. My advice is just, are there any last things you want to do before he comes...? When it comes time for delivery (and yes, I think all of us really want an early baby! :) call me and we can talk, I might have a suggestion or two to speed things along. ;) (Sorry for the email-esque comment!)

Ok, comment just got longer...sorry. Maybe here are some suggestions of fun things to do, if you haven't done it already---baby announcements prepped, envelopes addressed. Camera/video camera stocked and maybe get a photo albumn to save a few favorites in. Belly casting? Belly photo shoot? Haircut or Mani/Pedis? Breastfeeding supplies stocked- a couple nursing style shirts for baby #1 is a good idea I think, because you're getting use to the idea of the potential horror of being exposed in a more or less public place (even your friend's house seems like a public place if her hubby or someone is around, u know?). I didn't bother wearing them so much after the first, I felt like I could get it down how to be discreet and do it in a way that I didn't feel so self-conscious while breastfeeding. Car cleaned (maybe that's better a little bit closer to the date, or maybe you're better at keeping the car clean unlike me :)? Get exercise equipment for post-partum (like a ball or small weights or pilates mat and video). You could stock up on your favorite toiletries because sometimes its a disaster trying to send hubby to the store for something that you know he might pick out wrong...okay maybe this is not so much an every day dilemma with just baby #1. Jeremy loved the excitement of buying his "reward treat" for after the baby was born. Guess it just felt official to eat a special treat to celebrate the moment. It sounds funny now that i share this, but it was totally a 'shut-out-the-hospital-and-be-just-us-yeah-we-did-it' bonding moment; after all the work was done, life is on a cloud, and enjoy some little food together. For some reason, I think planning it out beforehand made the moment feel more sentimental and meaningful. For him (as always) it's Flaming hot Cheetos, for me it's usually Sour Patch kids. Get a few wanna read books, a new movie? oh, and if you don't already have, a journal for keeping thoughts in- and actually, I always wish I would have made myself get a book or sheet or whatever for writing down baby's milestones. I always wish I had done a better job at writing that stuff down.

Unfortunately I don't think the sleep will improve for a little while with a newborn! :) FORTUNATELY newborns are so cute and precious, it makes the pain and sleeplessness of it all worth it. Good luck, we're excited to hear how it goes and to see pictures of your little one!

Kati you are adorable- and you are almost there! I kept thinking I could not get any bigger... and the belly kept growing. But it was definately worth it in the end. When you see you little boy and get to hold him in your arms instead of your belly, all your discomfort is put in perspective.

I wanted Conner to come early so bad- and he came right on his due date. hope you have better luck!

I am afraid I have to agree with Jen- the sleep part might not improve for a month or so. :D Conner is still trying to figure out the difference between night and day.

Kati, I love the pictures! Your hair seems a lot longer than I remember! The belly is just perfect. It is so hard to wait at the end. I always kept myself super busy and made goals of things to do before the baby came. Have you set up a baby pool yet? Can't wait to meet my newest nephew! Is there anything left on your list that you need?

Kati, you are so cute!! You are going to be the best mom, I can't wait! And I'm sorry, those last weeks are hard, but they will be over so soon and you'll be snuggling your adorable little baby, it's so fun!

Well, how cute are you!!! You look fabulous! Well, if you keep working 12 hour shifts, you'll have an early baby! I shot a wedding 9 days before the due date...Cameron came a week early :) So,moving and working helps...I think, anyway. It will be over soon. Then, you'll be kissing cute baby cheeks! I can't wait to meet him.
